We had a contractor come to replace a door to our basement and install a bolt lock:
Note that the screw emerges into thin air instead of into the door frame. AND the bolt isn't lined up properly with the slot in the frame, so the door won't lock.
Then the painter came yesterday and painted the door and frame before we discovered it.
Mr. Reasonable (that would be Jerry) called the contractor this morning. Who offered to send someone out to see it. Mrs. Bitch (me) countermanded that in another phone call and insisted the contractor himself come to look. Jerry agreed that would be the way to go.
